My first world cup. I remember being mesmerised by Brazil. I remember watching the Scot Narey score against Brazil which insulted them and they then put 4 past them. I remember Brian Robson scoring the fastest goal against France after 24 seconds and then England missing chances against Spain and getting knocked out. For NI fans i remember watching their game against Spain and Gerry Armstrong scoring the winner which qualified them for the next stage. I also remember watching Brazil v Italy, and Brazil getting knocked out was a travesty with a Paulo Rossi hat-trick. However, the Italians peaked at the right time after being rubbish in the first group stage. My only regret is not watching the final and missing the Classic Tardelli scream after scoring their second goal. Most of All, I loved the Atmosphere with all the sirens and horns in the background, which we never hear anymore at modern games.

Love Brian's shirt. Really smart with the Slazenger logo on the collar. Top, top football presenter and commentator. Still miss him. Football commentary and analysis would be a better place today with a Brian or a Motty🙁

As a young English 12 year old…living in Scotland during that awful 8 year barren time for my country….it was hell hehe……so it was with pleasure I watched as Scotland got dumped out of the Euros………and yes…..my England are not much better, the Scots back then had real fighters and very good players…..oh such wonderful times…..until the school break for me, getting it from my Scottish classmates….all good fun to be honest, but the best was yet to come in 1978….Peru……Who…….Cubillias was the name.

i was on way to a school trip to France day of this match we stopped at services and i found a ticket to the match on the floor ,word must have got round and within 10 minutes our coach was surrounded by around 50 scousers all saying it was their ticket 🤣🤣🤣

I watch these old Big Match replays and pull up the songs that were popular at that time and watch the games. Look at the difference of the game compared to today's, no flopping and laying on the ground for 2 minutes, space on the pitch with not everybody within 15 yards of the ball, and throw ins that don't take 25 seconds and running 10 metres away from the spot. The games moves along so smoothly.

Brian Moore was a good commentator, but his lack of knowledge [looking back] was quite shocking..... "Laurie Cunningham, picked up from Arsenal's doorstep" - Moore failed to mention that Laurie WAS with Arsenal, but was released ! When Peter Bennett came on as sub, BM didn't even mention that "Les" was signed FROM the Hammers - and was back at his previous [first] club....... Poor.
